ABOUT MAÏTÉ
Maïté (she/her) is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC; Member #25572) with more than six years of experience supporting individuals in both community and private practice settings. Her work focuses on helping people deepen their self-understanding, cultivate embodied presence, and engage in more authentic ways of relating. Guided by a trauma-informed and heart-centred approach, Maïté offers counselling in both English and French. She is also certified in the Gottman Method for Couples Therapy, bringing evidence-based tools to support healthy, resilient relationships.
For Maïté, seeking therapy is an act of courage. She honours this by creating a space that feels safe, welcoming, and collaborative—one where clients can show up fully as themselves. Her approach is relational and grounded in the belief that healing unfolds not just through insight, but through meaningful connection with self and others. With curiosity, clarity, and a touch of humour, she meets clients exactly where they are while remaining true to who she is.
In her sessions, Maïté draws from Internal Family Systems (IFS), expressive arts, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), somatic practices, and her Gottman Method training to help clients reconnect with inner wisdom, creativity, and vitality. Her background in gender studies, along with years of community support work in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, shapes her inclusive, anti-oppressive lens. She views healing as a personal and collective process and is dedicated to nurturing a culture of care, compassion, and embodied belonging.
Clients often experience Maïté as warm, playful, and deeply present. Her intention is that every part of you feels welcome—and that you can trust nothing is “too much.” Together, you will move beyond the problem itself and into greater aliveness, meaning, and authenticity.
Maïté is honoured to offer in-person and virtual sessions on the unceded, stolen lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
